The lamp shade is made of epoxy resin and natural sand. The outside of the lamp is in semi-matte, matte on the inside, the structure has visible aggregate. The lampshade is finished with an oak cap, which has the same shape as the headliner. No visible mounting – the lamp has beautiful finish detail.
The lampshade is made by hand – there may be light reflections on the surface of the lamp, piercing between the grains of sand. The power cord is finished with natural braided cotton in gray.
The lamp was chosen by the European Commission of Art and Culture for the main exhibition at La Biennale of Art in Venice in 2018. It was presented at numerous international design exhibits.
Sand Grain luminaires adorn the main hall of Aby Dhabi’s founders, among others; the lampshades for this realisation were made of desert sand.
We could add a type of a stamp next to them – black and white – such as I have in my footer with a laurel wreath and this inscription is on Venice design.
It was really a huge achievement for us, which we are incapable of boasting about…
