Latto Gelato \u2013 Ice Cream Counter Made with Plastryko<\/h2>\n

At Latto Gelato caf\u00e9 in Gdynia, design meets history and responsibility. The main counter of this artisanal ice cream parlor was created using, among other materials, 45 kg of plexiglass shavings from a signage production workshop owned by the caf\u00e9 owner’s father, combined with 50 kg of processed plastic waste \u2013 including materials from old windows and chewing gum wrappers.<\/div>\n

The artistic furniture panel serves as a handmade cladding for the caf\u00e9’s counter, created in a less-waste spirit. It resembles an ice sculpture shimmering in shades of pistachio green and raspberry pink \u2013 colors inspired by the caf\u00e9\u2019s bestselling ice cream flavors. Even after over a year of heavy use, it still shines after a simple refresh.<\/div>\n

The curved front of the counter was made from an 8 mm thick board, bent over a custom carpentry mold and installed by fitters from Migaloo Home. The countertop was created using the \u201cbathtub technique,\u201d allowing the edges to be coated with the same binder mixed with recycled plastic as the top surface of the bar.<\/div>\n

For us, it’s a great joy to be part of stories like this \u2013 personal and rooted in family relationships. We create furniture finishes with soul, which stand as examples of responsible upcycling.<\/div>\n
