Artistic Amber Table
The “Ambassador” table was created for a solo exhibition by the founder of Migaloo Home, Monika Błaszkowska. The exhibition took place in 2024 at the State Gallery of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. Titled “The Amber Room,” the exhibition presented a modern and unconventional interpretation of a collection of paintings made using the epoxy relief technique with Baltic amber, along with elements of functional design—such as the Ambassador table.
This luxurious table was crafted using walnut shells—an organic waste material that adds structure and a 3D effect. The colored surface was coated with high-gloss lacquer, enhancing the depth and sharpness of the colors. Additionally, the tabletop incorporates natural Baltic amber of jewelry quality, natural slate with golden mica, and gold leaf. The table measures 125 x 125 cm.
The photographs showcase this artistic piece in a unique setting. The photo session, by Agnieszka Grabowska, took place in the historic interiors of the Artus Court in Gdańsk. This historic space served as an inspiration for Monika Błaszkowska, who designed the tabletop in deep green hues accented with touches of pink and gold.
This is a symbolic meeting of two eras—the contemporary, represented by the tabletop made with modern techniques, and the historical, reflected in the centuries-old interiors in the heart of Old Gdańsk. The common thread is amber and a tribute to the local artistic tradition of working with Baltic amber and handcrafted design.
