Eco-Friendly Kitchen Countertops

The kitchen island and countertop installation was crafted from a composite made of crushed walnut shells and a binder in a color chosen by the client. The organic nature of the material is emphasized by a hand-laid pattern created in the studio. The colors harmonize with the living room’s color palette.

The countertop was protected with a natural oil-wax finish. Each panel was custom-made to fit — to ensure the pattern on the island aligned seamlessly, we produced a 4.5-meter-long slab at Migaloo Home.
The surface is non-absorbent, resistant to discoloration from food juices and alcohol, and can be renewed multiple times by lightly sanding it with fine sandpaper.
